BDS E21CC Development:

The following E21CC have been identified by the school as focus areas as they provide synergy with distinctive school programmes and goals:

The Total Curriculum Framework at BDS is anchored by our guiding philosophy of Believe-Develop-Serve (BDS), which forms the foundation of our holistic approach to education.

At the core of our framework lies 'Believe' - our fundamental beliefs about educating BDSians. These shared beliefs shape our educational vision and drive our commitment to nurturing every student's potential.

The 'Develop' phase is represented by interconnected circles that outline seven key learning approaches, applicable across both IP and non-IP domains. These approaches under ‘Develop’ are structured around the principles See-Connect-Transfer (see below), which guides our pedagogical practice.

The learning culminates in 'Serve', represented by the outer orange ring. This is where BDSians demonstrate the practical application of their learning through service to both the school and wider community. We facilitate this through carefully curated key learning experiences, supported by a nurturing school culture and an environment that encourages growth and participation.

Surrounding the framework are the intended student outcomes of the school, which include the G³, BDS Focus on E21CC, and school values, ICARE.

This comprehensive framework ensures that our students not only acquire knowledge and skills but also develop the capacity to apply them meaningfully in the service of others, embodying the true spirit of BDS education.

In the 'See' principle, we lead BDSians to recognise and understand the essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions they need to develop. This includes helping them visualise what successful learning looks like and establishing clear learning goals.

The 'Connect' principle emphasises the importance of meaningful connections in learning. We guide our students to forge links between different concepts, collaborate with peers, and relate their learning to real-world contexts. This approach empowers them to take ownership of their learning journey and discover connections independently.

Through the 'Transfer' principle, we enable BDSians to apply their knowledge across various contexts, seamlessly integrating theory with practice. Our carefully scaffolded learning experiences provide appropriate challenges that stretch each student to reach their full potential whilst ensuring they remain within their zone of proximal development.
