Introduction

Language is more than communication. It is the gateway to culture, identity and heritage. The MTL Department empowers students to discover the richness of their Mother Tongue and develop a lifelong love for the language. We believe that when students find joy in learning, they become active learners who take ownership of their language journey and grow into proficient, confident communicators.​

​Through purposefully designed programmes, vibrant cultural activities, and authentic learning experiences, we create opportunities for students to connect meaningfully with their language and heritage. Whether in the classroom or beyond, we nurture students who are deeply rooted in their culture and open to the world around them.

The MTL Department brings learning to life through a range of programmes that celebrate language and culture. Our annual festival celebrations and MTL Fortnight invite students to experience the richness of their Mother Tongue beyond the textbook, through performances, activities and cultural immersion. Students who demonstrate a passion for MTL are nurtured through the MTL Talent Management Programme, where they grow in confidence, deepen their language skills and develop a lifelong love for their Mother Tongue.

Our students, Syaniyyah, Aisha, Yusuf and Zahin, clinched the top spot at the Berita Harian Young Journalist Competition. A well-deserved achievement!
