Mother Tongue
We believe every student can find joy in learning their Mother Tongue and grow into a confident and proficient user. Through purposefully designed programmes and experiences, we deepen students' appreciation of the language and empower them to use it with confidence.

Introduction
Language is more than communication. It is the gateway to culture, identity and heritage. The MTL Department empowers students to discover the richness of their Mother Tongue and develop a lifelong love for the language. We believe that when students find joy in learning, they become active learners who take ownership of their language journey and grow into proficient, confident communicators.
Through purposefully designed programmes, vibrant cultural activities, and authentic learning experiences, we create opportunities for students to connect meaningfully with their language and heritage. Whether in the classroom or beyond, we nurture students who are deeply rooted in their culture and open to the world around them.

Our annual festival celebrations and MTL Fortnight invite students to experience the richness of their Mother Tongue beyond the textbook, through performances, activities and cultural immersion. Students who demonstrate a passion for MTL are nurtured through the MTL Talent Management Programme, where they grow in confidence, deepen their language skills and develop a lifelong love for their Mother Tongue.

Tips for Parents
Helping Your Child Love Their Mother Tongue
Weave It Into Everyday Life: Use MTL during meals, errands and bedtime. The more natural the setting, the more confident your child becomes.
Explore Together: Attend cultural events, festivals and performances in your child's MTL. Learning comes alive outside the classroom.
Celebrate Every Step: Every child learns differently. Encourage their efforts and remind them that MTL is a lifelong gift worth nurturing.
It takes a village to raise a bilingual child. Thank you for being part of the journey.
